MICAH 6:8 (2024)
New Direction Christian Church/ Memphis, TN
This mural is inspired by Micah 6:8, which calls us to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. On the left, two men reach down to pull another from the water, a powerful image of justice in action and the responsibility to lift one another up. At the center, the cross symbolizes God’s ultimate act of mercy and love through sacrifice. On the right, Jesus walks alongside two children and a lamb, a reminder of humility, trust, and the call to follow God with childlike faith.
This scripture is also the foundation of MICAH (Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action & Hope), an organization that New Direction Christian Church has helped lead. MICAH brings together faith communities across Memphis to pursue equity and justice, and this mural visually reflects that same mission in a more biblical manner, representing the scripture. Together, the scenes are a call to live out Micah 6:8 not only in belief but through action, shaping how we serve, love, and build community.
